“Na Música todos contam” (In Music everyone counts) is a project created by Orquestra Clássica do Centro together in a partnership with the region of Coimbra.

The main goal of this wonderful project is to bring children and seniors to sing on stage with the Orchestra. The songs are famous classical music hits, with special lyrics in Portuguese created by tenor and director Mário João Alves. Mário is also a wonderful writer, with amazing ideas who promote his passion for music working on this kind of projects besides singing and directing.

For two years I’ve been part of the project rehearsing these Kids and Seniors and singing solo in the final concerts.

The project started in 2017 and was a special challenge for me. Rehearsing more than 300 people in 2017 and 500 in 2018.

After the success of the performance in 2017, “Na Música todos contam”  gave place to another format of the idea: “A OCC convida…” (Orquestra Clássica do Centro invites…”). Based in the same concept this project was dedicated to schools in the district of Coimbra that were not involved in the biggest “Na Música todos contam”. Normally we had on stage between 20 and 30 children. But it was as powerful as the bigger version.

2017 and 2018 were two years full of unforgettable moments. It is indescribable the feeling after all those rehearsals and performances. Those shining eyes, those faces of happiness and gratitude, those hugs in the end of rehearsals and performances and the beautiful messages plenty  of tenderness and love.

I believe this is the mission of my career.

Hope all musicians have at least once the opportunity to share this passion for music in a social, pedagogical and  altruistic context.
